I came prepared. Having read previous comments about the great impenetrable wall of gorse, I brought a secateurs and a pair of tough gardening gloves. Neither were needed.
We followed the route described in previous comments. The gate is in poor condition, so it's inadvisable to try to climb it as the bars may not bear your weight. Untie the rope and walk through.
Walking across the field, we came to the formerly impenetrable line of gorse, which is now much reduced. We stepped over the fence into the summit area, which is quite agreeable. The summit trig point stands in a square grassy area, bounded on three sides by trees. While the trees block the view of the lake from the summit itself, they create a feeling of seclusion as well as shelter from the wind.
Total distance car to car was 1 km, and it took us about 25 minutes in total. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1111/comment/24160/

Slieveroe may not be the most exciting of tops, (unless you call being torn to shreds by gorse exciting) but it does have one saving grace - it presents a wonderful view of the Blessington Lakes. Beyond that, it is purely for the baggers. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1111/comment/20622/

Before the revised Mtviews list I was able to look at OS Sheet 56 safely tucked away and fully ticked. Now its back to the (ticking) drawing board, Slieveroe overlooking Blessington on the western fringe of the Wicklow Mts seemed a likely place to start. I parked at A (N953 137), at the entrance to a small cul de sac enough room here for one car The top of the hill is clearly visible from here. The access road to this point is a very narrow rough but driveable road. From the car I walked up the Cul de sac after about 100mts there is a derelict farmhouse for sale. Just opposite this on the left there is an old red gate which gave access to a rough field, I crossed this field to a wire fence, which was easliy crossed into another field, and headed uphill to the edge of a small forest and an area of gorse bushes, another fence had to be crossed here, which led to the summit trig point. Great views here over Blessington Lakes to Mulaghcleevaun. I met no one to ask about access. Total time taken from car to car 11mins 30 secs, and a distance of 800mts.
